Yesterday, I had to buy face wash…which I thought would be a fairly simple task, until I realized that plain face wash doesn’t really exist in Pakistan. Everything in the store was either whiteness face wash”, “fairness cleansing foam” and promising a “whitish pink glow.” After ten minutes of searching I managed to find a plain brand, but I guess I was surprised to see that the obsession with fair skin as beauty is still deeply embedded in the culture (and exploited by big cosmetics conglomerates!)
